Cork Dry Gin serves up afternoon tea with a twist

Dublin’s fashion set descended on the Merrion Hotel’s Wellesley Room in Dublin recently for an Afternoon Tea Party with a twixt, hosted by Cork Dry Gin who served up a stylish affair with cakes, cocktails and a fashion showcase by Kinsale-based design duo Charlotte & Jane.

Specially-commissioned to create a cocktail dress for the event inspired by Cork Dry Gin’s iconic square bottle, they incorporated the distinctive red of the Cork Dry Gin label. The fashion showcase also featured their new silks and hats collection with vintage sounds in string provided by quartet Stringology.

Dainty savouries were served and a five-tier Victorian Lemon Cake formed a centrepiece in the room, surrounded by vintage china and crystal tiered cake stands piled high with sweets.

Guests were treated to a new elderflower cocktail, the Lee Lemonade (mix 35.5ml of Cork Dry Gin with 17 ml of Elderflower Cordial, 113ml Soda Water and garnish with a sprig of mint), specially-created by CDG’s mixologist for the event and served up in exquisite, mismatched vintage china tea cups. “Classic chic is making a comeback and to have Cork Dry Gin associated with great Irish designers Charlotte & Jane brings to life the style and sophistication of Cork Dry Gin,” stated Stephanie Wynne, Brand Manager of Cork Dry Gin.
