Bar volumes up 11.3%

Retail sales volumes in bars showed an 11.3% increase over the course of the year to the end of July according to provisional CSO figures released recently.

There was a 4.4% increase in July when compared to June.

Bar sales values were also up by 11.4% in the year to the end of July and by 4.5% on the June figure.

Final figures for June show bar sales volumes up by 6.2% in the 12 months to the end of June but volumes fell by 1.6% when compared with the previous month, May.

Sales values for the year to the end of June were up 6.4% but they were down 1.3% when compared to the previous month, May.

Preliminary estimates from the CSO put bar sales volumes up 7.6% for the three months May-July when compared with the same quarter in 2014.

The May-July quarter saw sales values in bars rise by 7.9% compared to May-July 2014.

Both volumes and values in bars showed growth of 4.3% when compared to the previous Feb-April quarter.

Retail sales volumes generally increased by 11.6% in July over June 2015.
