February bar sales up 1.5%

Retail sales volumes in bars rose 1.5% in volume and 2.7% in value last February compared to February 2016 according to seasonally-adjusted provisional estimates from the CSO.

February’s bar sales volumes were down 1.1% on January with values down 1.8% on the month.

Final seasonally-adjusted figures for January show bar sales up 2.8% in volume and 3.4% in value on a year ago.

Compared to December 2016, last January’s sales volumes in bars were up 0.7% while values rose 2.0%.

Across a three-month period December 2016 to February 2017, sales volumes were up 1.9% on the same period the previous year with sales values up 2.8%.

Comparing the December 2016 to February 2017 quarter with the previous quarter (September to November 2016) sales volumes were down 1.2% with bar sales values down 0.7%.
