3 million cases of Jameson marked with specially-commissioned book

An Taoiseach Enda Kenny TD launched a specially-commissioned book, The Spirit We Share, to mark the global success of Jameson which achieved sales of three million cases in 2010.

The launch event at Dublin’s Grand Canal Theatre was attended by Pernod Ricard Chairman Patrick Ricard and IDL Chairman and Chief Executive Alexandre Ricard.

“When Irish Distillers joined Pernod Ricard in 1988, sales of Jameson were 466,000 cases,” stated Alexandre Ricard, “At three million cases and growing at 20 per cent, Jameson is now among the fastest-growing premium spirit brands in the world and has spearheaded a complete rejuvenation of the Irish whiskey category, making it the most dynamic spirits segment globally.”

In celebration of the worldwide achievement, Jameson commissioned renowned French photographer Nicolas Henry to take a series of portraits of people from around the globe who’ve contributed to the success of Jameson. From consumers to bartenders, the book includes people from Ireland, the US, South Africa, Russia, Mexico, Portugal, the UK and India.

Some 300 guests from Pernod Ricard and the wider drinks industry attended the Dublin launch.  A special exhibition of the 50 portraits went on view at the Grand Canal Theatre for two weeks, open to the public.
