Powerscourt Distillery’s Fercullen Single Malt Whiskey wins gold at IWSC
Powerscourt Distillery’s Fercullen Single Malt Whiskey has received one of the highest accolades from the International Wines & Spirit Competition (IWSC), Gold Outstanding Medal, the highest points given to a new Irish whiskey and distillery at the competition with a score of 98 points.
Enjoying wide acclaim since its release last April, it marked the first time in 100 years that a whiskey has been distilled in County Wicklow. With 100% malt, distilled entirely on the Powerscourt Estate, Fercullen Single Malt Whiskey embodies the spirit of Wicklow in a bottle.
Additionally, the Fercullen 21-Year-Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey was awarded Gold with a score of 96 points. The Fercullen Falls Small Batch Blended Irish Whiskey and the Fercullen 15-Year-Old Irish Whiskey received silver medals. The Fercullen Estate Series 3 The Gates Single Malt Irish Whiskey and the Fercullen 13-Year-Old Cask Select Single Grain Irish Whiskey both won bronze medals.
Paul Corbett, master distiller, Powerscourt Distillery, said: “We are immensely honoured to receive such prestigious recognition from the International Wines & Spirit Competition. A Gold Outstanding score is very rare in such a highly reputed competition as the IWSC. It reflects our unwavering dedication to producing whiskies of the highest calibre, and we share this achievement with our exceptional team and loyal consumers and supporters.”
