In the September/October issue of Drinks Industry Ireland, we focus on the plight of rural publicans. The VFI are imploring the Government to implement their proposed On-Trade Sustainability Scheme to give some relief to those struggling to make a living.
Elsewhere, publican Michael McGonigle of Clancy’s Pub in Co Roscommon celebrates 150 years in business and at the same time contemplates whether he has a future in the pub. A worry that many like him have.
Meanwhile, we speak to Ryan McFarland of Drinksology Kirker Greer about their new venture Spiritly, a specialist digital-first wholesaler focused on premium spirits. They have identified a niche in the market and decided to trial it and it seems like there is a thriving market for premium spirits.
We also have a bumper Irish whiskey feature in this issue. Following Donald Trump’s visit to the Irish Open last month, the drinks industry can breadth a sigh of relief for now at least, as the removal of tariffs on Irish whiskey brings us back into line with the UK, creating a level playing field once again.
The upcoming category features planned for the November/December edition of Drinks Industry Ireland are;
November/December
• Xmas Drinks (Alcoholic)
• Xmas Soft Drinks & Mixers
• No/Low Alcohol Drinks
• Cognac/Brandy
• Best of the Year
• Sparkling Wine
