Drinks Industry Ireland September/October Digital Edition now available

September/October DII explores the rural pub crisis, Irish whiskey tariffs, premium spirits and the future of the on-trade

In the September/October issue of Drinks Industry Ireland, we focus on the plight of rural publicans and the challenges facing the traditional Irish pub. The VFI is calling on Government to implement its proposed On-Trade Sustainability Scheme, which aims to provide some much-needed relief to publicans struggling to make a living.

Meanwhile, publican Michael McGonigle of Clancy’s Pub in Co Roscommon marks an incredible 150 years in business, while also questioning whether there is a future for the pub. It is a concern shared by many rural publicans across the country as rising costs and changing consumer habits continue to put pressure on the sector.

Elsewhere, we speak to Ryan McFarland of Drinksology Kirker about Spiritly, its new specialist digital-first wholesaler focused on premium spirits. Having identified a gap in the market, the business has launched the new venture to explore the growing demand for premium spirits across Ireland.

We also have a bumper Irish whiskey feature in this issue. Following Donald Trump’s visit to the Irish Open last month, the drinks industry can breathe a sigh of relief for now, with the removal of tariffs on Irish whiskey bringing Ireland back into line with the UK and creating a level playing field once again.

The upcoming category features planned for the November/December edition of *Drinks Industry Ireland* are;

* Xmas Drinks (Alcoholic)
* Xmas Soft Drinks & Mixers
* No/Low Alcohol Drinks
* Cognac/Brandy
* Best of the Year
* Sparkling Wine
