Powers Whiskey Ireland’s Best Snug Search 2011

Powers Irish Whiskey is nearing the end of its search for Ireland’s Best Pub Snug 2011.

While Irish pub snugs come in many forms and sizes – preserved, restored or adapted to the modern pub needs, Powers Whiskey has outlined the key features of a traditional Irish snug as requirements for the competition.  

The first 100 pub entries via the Powers Whiskey website to satisfy at least four of its snug criteria along with the standard entry requirements go forward to compete for the all-Ireland title. The public can then vote from October 5th to decide the nation’s favourite snugs via five regional winners.  The overall winner will be chosen by a special judging committee.   

The winning pub will receive a housed trophy from Powers, a monthly allowance to serve every visitor to its snug a complimentary Powers Whiskey and a local radio campaign to celebrate their snug as Ireland’s greatest.

Speaking about the competition, Senior Brand Manager for Powers Whiskey Suzanne Lawlor said, “The traditional Irish snug is highly thought-of but seldom celebrated.  At Powers Whiskey we aim to do just that, to celebrate snugs as the unsung heroes of the Irish pub and to highlight the best Ireland has to offer, each unique in their own right but all equally placed in the enjoyment of good company and great conversation”.

Entries can be submitted via the Powers website www.powerswhiskey.com/snugs until August 26th. The 100-pub shortlist will be announced on September 1st.  Regional winners, as voted for by the public, will be announced on November 2nd and the National Winner will be announced on November 15th.
