Powers finds best Irish coffee maker

Powers Whiskey went on the hunt this Autumn to find Ireland's most talented Irish Coffee maker, the country's first 'Coffee in Good Spirits' contest

Ireland’s top Irish coffee maker is Ziad Abinakhoul (pictured), winner of the first Irish ‘Coffee in Good Spirits’ event sponsored by Powers Gold Label Irish Whiskey.

Speaking about the event, Suzanne Lawlor, senior brand manager for Powers Whiskey said: “As a flavoursome, full bodied whiskey, Powers Gold Label lends itself perfectly to Irish coffee and we are delighted to sponsor the inaugural Coffee In Good Spirits Competition in Ireland. Powers is a superbly made whiskey with distinctive pot still character that makes a rich, round and full flavoured drinking experience. The Powers Irish Coffee is a great indulgence and one of the classic drinks of all time.”

Held recently in the RDS Simmonscourt by the Speciality Coffee Association Europe, SCAE Ireland, in association with Powers Whiskey, the event saw 10 Irish coffee makers, barmen and baristas competing for the title and the chance to represent Ireland in the next world Coffee in Good Spirits Competition, set to take place in London in June 2010.
