Hospitality grows 10.2% in April

The Hotels, Restaurants & Bar sector again recorded growth last month – and at 10.2% growth in the year to April, it was up on the 9.2% figure for the year to March in Visa Europe’s Irish Consumer Spending Index.

Double-digit expansions in expenditure were also recorded in the Health & Education and Household Goods sectors, with rates of growth accelerating across all of these spending categories.

Visa Europe’s Irish Consumer Spending Index takes card-spending data and adjusts it for a variety of factors to create a like-for-like comparison of consumer spending.

Growth in consumer spending has been registered in every month since Visa Europe’s data calculation began in September 2014.
