A successful drone trial has been conducted to transport high-end items from the coast of Monaco to a superyacht in the ocean.

The drone facilitated by Kookiejar of Sweden, MC CLIC,  drone manufacturer and operator, along with Superyacht Supplies, successfully delivered a £360 (€414) bottle of vintage champagne and a 500g tin of Caviar to a superyacht.

The unique delivery was a trial to assess the potential of using drones for transporting goods and services to yachts in the future. The objective is to set the foundation for a U-Space in Monaco, paving the way for on-demand drone services. This trial received support from the Aviation Civile and the Maritime Authority of Monaco.

The drone service has the potential to transport up to 40kg of goods for upcoming deliveries, although the trial was limited to 10kg. The successful delivery was made to the 73m Lürssen built Megayacht M/Y CORAL OCEAN, which underwent a €35 million rebuild.

Andrew Maidment, managing director, Superyacht Supplies, said: “We are thrilled to showcase the potential of drone deliveries to superyachts, enabling swifter, more convenient, and environmentally conscious logistics for the maritime industry.”

In the future, as drone technology advances, it could enable drinks brands to swiftly deliver several cases of wine to customers located up to 50km out at sea.
