Demand for Jameson to build a new warehouse
With demand for Jameson forecast to remain strong and with Midleton Distillery approaching its full warehousing capacity, Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard is set to expand its storage capacity for Jameson Whiskey.
An IDL spokesperson explained, "In anticipation of the need for further warehousing capacity to mature the increasing stocks of Jameson needed to fulfill the global demand, Irish Distillers have actively looked at a number of sites that might be suitable for such a development”.
As a result, it intends building a new warehouse at a site near Dungourney in County Cork “subject to the normal planning process”.
Global sales of Jameson stand at just under three million cases (2.92 million), a growth in volume of over nine per cent in a recessionary global market, made all the more remarkable by an increase in value over the past year of 12 per cent.
