Clonmel 1650 Wins Gold

The recently-launched Clonmel 1650 from the C&C Group has been awarded a Gold Medal in the Keg Lager section of The International Brewing Awards.

The annual Awards, first established in 1886, are amongst the most prestigious in the industry and this year a panel of 43 of the world’s leading judges, in conclave at the National Brewery Centre in Burton-upon-Trent, assessed close to 1,000 beers and ciders submitted from 50 countries.

The Awards are unique in requiring that all judges are currently working as brewers or cider-makers, a distinction not lost on those who’ve sufficient faith in their products to enter the arena, which makes this gold medal all the more impressive.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our customers and everyone involved in launching Clonmel 1650 and for creating what is an internationally-acclaimed gold medal-winning beer,” commented Tom McCusker, Managing director of C&C Group Ireland, “The hard work and dedication of our team has helped create the perfect lager which we’re very proud of.”
