Bord Bia’s Top 15 markets study
The results are due back at the end of November and the industry will be briefed shortly thereafter.
Bord Bia is also looking at the French and German markets, gauging consumer perceptions and behaviours around Irish whiskeys. This is likely to be showcased on the same day as the UK study.
In the meantime Bord Bia’s next Marketplace International event has also been earmarked the 12th April. This ‘speed-dating’ supplier/buyer interaction day will be held in the RDS. Organised once every three years, Bord Bia brings in some 500 food & drinks buyers from around the world to meet Irish food and drinks producers. Those from outside Ireland comprise about 80% of the buyers attending on the day.
“There are various aspects to the drinks category which attract a lot of attention from international markets,” says Bord Bia’s Sectoral Manager for Drinks Denise Murphy, “So we try to bring them in on the previous weekend to the Marketplace International event and over three days take them around the new facilities that have been built.”
