Barry & Fitzwilliam is winner of two prestigious awards

Barry & Fitzwilliam has won a Deloitte Best Managed Company Award, as well as being recently named the Cork Chamber of Commerce Company of the Year

Barry & Fitzwilliam was declared one of the winners of the Deloitte Best Managed Company Awards at a gala awards ceremony in The Burlington Hotel, Dublin on 4 March.

The company was also recently awarded the Cork Chamber of Commerce Company of the Year award (SME Category for less than 100 employees).

The Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards Programme recognises indigenous Irish companies across the island of Ireland which are operating at the highest levels of business performance. The programme recognises the efforts of the entire organisation, not just one individual.

Michael Barry, managing director of Barry & Fitzwilliam, in accepting the Deloitte award on behalf of his colleagues, said:
“With over 100 premium international brands, 70 staff and an anticipated turnover of E72 million in 2011, we are always adding to our portfolio in order to enhance our reputation as a key player in the industry. This award copper fastens our reputation as a serious player in our market sector and this is really important to us and to our loyal staff.”

When asked what constituted a ‘Best Managed’ company, Barry said:

“Personal relationships are the cornerstone of our business. It is the tide of team-spirit that urges people to drive on to success, and this is very evident in our company. Trusting relationships across the board are crucial, and while our management team and I are facilitators in driving the business, it is the team on the warehouse floor, in administration, distribution and merchandising that provide the crucial efficient and timely backup that makes our company a success.”

The Cork Chamber of Commerce Company of the Year awards (SME Category for less than 100 employees) were held at Cork City Hall.

Of this award Barry said:  “This award means a lot to us, and in particular to our loyal staff, who have worked tirelessly with us to cement our position as a market leader in the Irish drinks distribution industry. I have always believed we have a fantastic team. It is a great thrill to be recognised in your own hometown, the place where it all began in 1982. Our business is about people, products, service and relationships. There is a huge personal element to the way we conduct our business. Customer relationships and supplier relationships have brought us to where we are.”

The company is responsible for brands such as Corona Extra, Jagermeister, Tia Maria, Harveys, Cockburns, Jim Beam, Teachers, Famous Grouse, McGuigan, Hardy’s, Paul Masson, Michel Lynch, MontGras and several others.
