Bar Sales down 5.9% in October over 2009

Bar Sales volumes declined by 5.9 per cent last October compared to the same month in 2009 according to preliminary estimates from the CSO recently.

They declined by 8.1 per cent in value during this time. However compared to the previous month, September 2010, Bar Sales last October were up 1.3 per cent in volume and by 1.1 per cent in value.

The final figures for September indicate that Bar Sales were down 9.5 per cent in volume and by 11.8 per cent in value compared to September 2009. Bar Sales were down 0.7 per cent in volume and by 0.6 per cent in value compared to the previous month, August.

On a seasonally-adjusted three-month basis, sales from August to October this year were down 8.6 per cent in volume and by 10.9 per cent in value compared to the same three-month period in 2009. This represents a decline in both sales volumes and values of 1.2 per cent on the previous three-month period May to July 2010.
