Bacardi Legacy winners announced in London

From over 120 entrants Bacardi revealed the winners of the Bacardi Legacy Cocktail Competition in Freemason’s Hall in London recently following a tight contest which saw Irish entrant Javier Bravo from Cork’s Long Island Bar just coming in short at the end with his drink El Gallego.

The Competition challenges the best contemporary bartenders around the globe to create balanced and appealing drinks in a classic style that creates a second golden age of cocktails.

The three bartenders creating the winning cocktails were: Matinee Kongsrivilai (The Bon Vivant, Scotland), Jody Monteith (The Liquorists, Northern England) and Zdenek Kastanek (Quo Vadis, London).

The three will be supported with a heavyweight marketing campaign by Bacardi throughout 2011 to drive awareness and support for the three cocktails. The overall winner will then be announced in time to compete at the Bacardi Global Final celebrating Bacardi’s 150th anniversary in 2012.

Furthermore, the overall winning cocktail recipe will be entered into Bacardi’s Legacy Cocktail Book to join the other leading Bacardi cocktails such as the Mojito, Daiquiri, El Presidente and Cuba Libre.
