Alcohol prices 1.2% down in year to July

Alcohol prices fell 0.5 per cent in July compared to the month of June while they fell by a similar amount in the three month period of May, June and July compared to the previous three-month period and by 1.2 per cent over the 12 months from July 2010.

Off-trade alcohol prices decreased by 1.1 per cent in July compared to June and by 2.6 per cent in the year to July 2011. Price decreases over the year were recorded for Spirits (4.4 per cent), Wine & Cider (1.7 per cent) and Beer (2.3 per cent).

When compared to the previous month, June, price decreases were recorded for Spirits (2.3 per cent), Wine & Cider (0.8 per cent) and Beer (0.5 per cent).

In the on-trade, price decreases of 0.6 per cent were recorded for Beer over the 12 months, 0.2 per cent for Spirits, 1.1 per cent for Wine & Cider and 0.5 per cent for Soft Drinks & Minerals.

Monthly on-trade price changes shows Beer, Spirits and Wine & Cider prices down 0.2 per cent compared to June.
