Paulaner: 200th Anniversary of Oktoberfest
To celebrate 200 years of Oktoberfest, Germany’s number one Weissbier, Paulaner, brought Oktoberfest to Dublin and Cork recently. Oktoberfest-themed celebrations took place in 40 on-trade accounts across Dublin city on the 1st and 2nd of October and a 10-day festival was held in Cork from September 23rd to October 3rd in City Limits, Coburg Street.
Paulaner fans were invited to sample real Oktoberfest culture with the special Paulaner Oktoberfest Brew, one of only six beers permitted to exhibit at Munich’s legendary Oktoberfest. Paulaner’s Oktoberfest Bier has a six per cent ABV and is specifically-brewed in Munich from July to October only. It’s available in draught and bottle format and is instantly recognisable by its golden yellow tones and light, hoppy malt flavour.
Paulaner, an authentic Bavarian-style wheat beer, is brewed by the monastic order of St Paolo that settled in the heart of Munich in 1634. Paulaner has been recognised as an authentic Oktoberfest beer since 1810. It was back then that the original Oktoberfest was created on October 12th to celebrate the royal Bavarian wedding of Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese. After five days of celebrations, Prince Ludwig decreed that from then on the festival would run each year and that Paulaner was one of only six beers to be served at the celebrations.
