Operating Losses at NolaClan Group rose to €4.5 million from €753,022 the previous year.

Turnover at the group, which operates several quality venues such as House in Dublin, Limerick and Belfast as well as 37 Dawson Street, fell by 82% as the pandemic closed down businesses from March onwards. This meant that Operating Losses rose to €4.5 million from €753,022 the previous year.

In attempting to combat this, staff cuts saw numbers fall by 65% from 378 staff to 133. Six admin staff remained in place while Bar, Hotel & Kitchen Staff were cut from 372 to 133.

This had a deflationary affect on staff costs (including salaries for the two directors Alan Clancy and Gerard Conlan) which fell by 68% from €7.1 million to €2.3 million.

Directors’ remuneration for the year also fell from €412,363 to €87,212.

Other venues in the NolaClan Group include Cork’s Oyster Tavern and Mrs Robinson’s in Greystones.
