Tesco continued in second place with a 24.2% share, itself down from the previous year’s 24.7%. Meanwhile Dunnes Stores grew its share of the market from 18.2% to 18.7%.
Discounters Lidl and Aldi enjoyed market shares of 11.7% and 10.2% respectively. Lidl grew its market share by 0.4% while Aldi’s share was down by 0.1%.
‘Others’, including independent stand-alone off-licences, saw a further decline in market share from 8.8% to 8.7%.
