SuperValu tops off-trade beer & wine share

SuperValu continued its dominance of the off-trade beer and wine sector over the year to the 27th of December 2020 despite a slight decline in its market share to 26.5% of the total off-trade beer & wine market from 26.7% in the previous year to the 29th of December 2019.

 

 

'Others', including independent stand-alone off-licences, saw a further decline in market share from 8.8% to 8.7%.

Tesco continued in second place with a 24.2% share, itself down from the previous year’s 24.7%. Meanwhile Dunnes Stores grew its share of the market from 18.2% to 18.7%.

Discounters Lidl and Aldi enjoyed market shares of 11.7% and 10.2% respectively. Lidl grew its market share by 0.4% while Aldi’s share was down by 0.1%.
