Sitting Room’s Martin wins Bacardí Legacy Ireland Competition
The Bacardí Legacy Ireland National Cocktail Competition sought the next Global finalist who’ll represent Ireland at this year’s 12th Global finals scheduled for Miami. They’ll compete against 40 of the world’s most innovative and exceptional bartenders for the global title, bringing the opportunity to create a lasting legacy and join the Bacardí Legacy Gran Familia – a support and shared knowledge network.
The three national finalists were:
- Martin Holec from The Sitting Room at Delahunt, Dublin, with his cocktail ‘The Lovander’
- Kevin Hurley from Balfes @ The Westbury, Dublin, with ‘Fail Better’
- Daniel Cronin from Cask, Cork, with ‘Hito’.
The three bartenders presented their Legacy cocktails to a panel of five judges in front of a room full of industry professionals.
The standard of competition this year was so high that one of the judges, sixth generation Bacardi family member Adolfo Comas, found it to have been the most difficult National final he’d judged for a number of years.
Martin will now continue to build his Legacy and promote his cocktail until he travels to the global finals.
However due to the outbreak of Covid-19 these have been postponed until further notice.
When it does go ahead the 40 finalists will immerse themselves in a week of education and competition, rubbing shoulders with some of the true legends of the bartending world at some of the city’s finest venues and night spots before the 2020 Global Champion is announced at the Grand Final.
