Scotch exports set new record
Exports of Scotch have grown by 60 per cent since 2000, adding an extra £1.29 billion to the Scotch industry’s kitty.
Premiumisation continues apace in this market too when the increase in value is set against a volume drop of two per cent.
Global export values have increased for the past six years in a row with exports to the US, the top Scotch market by value, up 19 per cent to £499 million. Below this lies France with exports up four per cent to £422 million.
In terms of volume, the situation is reversed with France topping the list at 13.7 million cases (down eight per cent on 2009) and the US following with 9.5 million cases (up eight per cent).
