NOffLA states views to Finance & Health

In two separate communications to the Department of Finance and to the Department of Health, The National Off-Licence Association has outlined its stance on both tax strategy on excise duties and the Public Health (Alcohol) Bill respectively.

NOffLA outlined its views on the Department of Finance’s publication of its Tax Strategy Group notes on Excise Duties by focusing on the urgent need for a ban on below-invoice-cost selling and advocated against the introduction of any levies alongside Minimum Unit Pricing.

In its communication to the Department of Health the Association outlined the need for a ban on below-invoice-cost selling “as a vital and complementary policy to Minimum Unit Pricing in tackling the sale of ultra-cheap and heavily discounted alcohol”.
