MVP’s Patrick Noir for Morocco

Patrick Noir of MVP cocktail bar in Dublin has won the Irish leg of the Opihr gin cocktail competition and will now compete against finalists from 15 different countries in Marrakesh on September 15th in the three-day-long 2016 global Opihr gin cocktail competition.

Originally from Belfast, Patrick won the Irish leg of the competition with his ‘Sail and Myth’ cocktail featuring homemade strawberry vermouth and hopped hemp cordial with Opihr oriental spiced gin to impress the judges – Bodytonic Group’s Phoebe Fairbairn, Opihr’s International Brand Manager Kate Harrison and 2015 winner Stephanie Shen.

Patrick was among 10 national finalists from leading Irish cocktail bars including House and Zozimus in Dublin and Cork’s BDSM.

The global winner wins a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to distill a limited edition batch of Opihr Gin with Master Distiller Joanne Moore at one of the oldest gin distilleries in the world – G&J Greenall Distillers in North West England.

The exclusive batch of gin will then be sold in finalists’ bars across the world.

The judges described Patrick’s cocktail as an outright winner, citing his inventions of homemade vermouth and hops cordial as ‘ incredible’.
