Jameson renews Dublin Film Festival sponsorship to 2015

Jameson, the world’s fastest-growing international brand of whiskey, has renewed its sponsorship of the Dublin International Film Festival for another three years.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the JDIFF represents Ireland’s most important film event and Jameson has been the title sponsor since 2003, where over 130 films are presented over 11 days from all over the globe, many of them Irish premieres.

A city-wide event since its inauguration in 2002, over the past 10 years an array of film talent has joined in with the celebrations including Daniel Day Lewis, Gabriel Byrne, Colin Farrell, Charlize Theron, Colin Firth, Liam Neeson and Kevin Spacey.

Anna Malmhake, Chairman and Chief Executive of Irish Distillers Pernod-Ricard, explained Jameson’s involvement: “Cinema is an intrinsic part of our global marketing strategy for Jameson and the Dublin Festival is a high point in our marketing calendar”.

The success of the festival has not just benefited the Arts and the Irish film industry but has had a significant impact on both Irish tourism and on the economy.

According to Anna Malmhake, “Last year alone over 40,000 guests attended the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival with nearly eight per cent of these travelling from abroad. The knock-on effect that this has for local businesses – hotels, restaurants, etc – is fantastic”.

Gina Quinn, Chief Executive, Dublin Chamber of Commerce, added,  “The Jameson Dublin International Film Festival is now an integral part of the annual calendar in Dublin, adding an essential feature to Dublin as a key destination for tourists.  An event of this quality and International standing and its association with a global brand of the stature of Jameson is critical to delivery of Dublin’s premium ‘event led’ tourism and a real boost for locals and the local economy”.

The full programme for the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival, which is targeted at an over 18s audience, will be launched on the 2nd February and it will run from 16th-26th February.
