Guinness goes Blonde in US

Diageo introduced a companion to Guinness in the US when Guinness Blond American Lager was launched there in the on- and off-trade last month.

Brewed in Latrobe, Pennsylvania and using the famous 125 year-old yeast imported from Dublin, this is “twice as smooth, half as bitter and 80% lighter in colour” than traditional Guinness on draught, according to the company.

Costing $8.99 for a 12oz bottle, Guinness Blond American Lager is available in six- and 24-packs as well as in a 20-litre keg.

This release is the first in Guinness’s ‘Discovery Series’, a range of new ‘fusion brew’ beers combining “European brewing expertise with global brewing experience in 55 countries”, all to be released under the Guinness trademark. The series will release these fusion brews bi-annually.
