and sees the fifth generation move into the sixth.
Here in Ireland, Barry & Fitzwilliam has distributed the company’s products since the 90s.
It’s now been 30 years since Gonzalez Byass (proud owners of Tio Peppe and Croft Original) decided to diversify into wines and the company now seeks to be the preferred supplier of top quality Spanish wines.
Pedro Rebuelta Gonzalez explained that the company, which began in Sherez, initially produced brandy mainly for the Spanish market and  produced sherry for the export market.
At the turn of the Millennium, the company sought to get more involved in wine-making through the acquisition of five different wineries which has grown to six today.
The tasting highlighted in particular the company’s Beronia range from a  winery founded in 1973 and subsequently purchased by GB in 1982.
Nowadays Bodegas Beronia counts itself among the top seven bodegas from Rioja on the Spanish market. Beronia wines here mainly range in price from RRPs of €10.99 to €19.99.
