Food & Bev Live for competitive spirit

Some of the largest and most well-known brands in the Irish Foodservice business come together in support of an array of national skills competitions and live educational demonstrations for one day only at Irish Foodservice Suppliers Alliance's Food & Bev Live 2014 tomorrow, 11th February at The Event Centre, Citywest Hotel, Saggart County Dublin from 10am – 5pm.

The one-day biennial Food and Bev Live 2014 event is aimed at stimulating the Foodservice and Hospitality industry – no other national event dedicated to this purpose also stages a range of foodservice skills competitions, claims the organiser.

This year’s event sees the introduction of a number of new features.

Pouring the spotlight on the cream of Irish talent in the industry, a series of national skills competitions challenge individuals to scoop national titles at the show such as Irish Barista Champion and National Cocktail Champion, with the winners going on to compete further, representing their country for international titles.

Open to all bartenders working in Ireland, the National Cocktail competition is staged by the Bartenders Association of Ireland and is sponsored by Edward Dillon & Company.  The winner will be crowned National Cocktail Champion 2014 and will represent Ireland at the World Cocktail Competition in Capetown, South Africa, running from 29th Sept to 4th Oct 2014.  This competition will run on the National Cocktail Championships Stage from 11.30am-5pm.

The Speciality Coffee Association of Europe hosts the finals of the Irish Barista Championship with the winner going on to compete in the World Barista Championships taking place at the SCAE World of Coffee in Rimini, Italy in June 2014.  These competitions run on the Irish Barista Championships Stage.

For chefs, Sodexo Ireland stages the very first ‘Sodexo Challenge @ F&B Live’.  One of Ireland’s best-known chefs, Derry Clarke, has been commissioned to set a culinary challenge for selected members of the company’s 500-strong chef team called the Sodexo Chefs Challenge. The Challenge will run from 10.30am-2pm on the Sodexo Chefs Challenge Stage.

“Food & Bev Live is intended to be a go-to event for everyone in the industry for every need they have,” commented IFSA Chief Executive Sean Martin, “With all the new and existing features at the show for 2014 meeting the needs from education and advice to demonstrations and the showcasing of innovative products, I think we’ve prepared a must-see show for anyone looking to improve their businesses and/or careers.”
