Flogas forks out right solution for Diageo
Until the changeover, these had been running on batteries but the charging process was taking eight hours, was very labour-intensive and each battery operated at reduced capacity during its last hour.
They also experienced lower battery performance in the latter part of their five-year life amounting to a regular drop in performance levels in a warehouse with a high volume of traffic.
Following detailed analysis and evaluation, the Flogas Energy Solutions team recommended a switch to LP Gas-powered forklifts with permanently mounted LP Gas tanks and a bulk gas refuelling unit. The storage of LP Gas onsite means instant refills so no downtime.
The switch also means an extended engine life, no manual handling, high level engine performance, low CO2 emissions and low running costs.
Diageo has switched to Flogas forklift trucks at its Belfast facility too.
