Fitzgerald Group turnover down 26%

Turnover at Burtse, the company behind the Fitzgerald Group, decreased by 26% to €53,068,724 in the financial year to the 30th of June 2020 from €71,397,579.

Louis and Helen Fitzgerald’s holding company for a number of prominent licensed premises including Kehoe’s pub in Dublin’s South Anne Street, The Stag’s Head in Dame Lane and the Louis Fitzgerald Hotel on the Naas Road as well as the Quays bars in Dublin’s Temple Bar and Galway areas, saw pre-tax profits plummet by nearly 60% to €5.8 million from €14 million the previous year as the Lockdown obliterated incomes for over a quarter of the Group’s financial year.

The company produced Operating Profits of €7.2 million, down 54% on the previous year’s €15.6 million figure.

Overall staff costs ran to €14,710,635, down 19% from €18,248,116 the previous year for the Group’s 825 staff (down from 891). These comprised: 14 Admin staff (down from 17), 36 Management (down from 38), six Hotel Management (down from eight) and 767 Bar/Operators (down from 826).

Remuneration for the two Directors was also down from €430,145 to €408,345.
