Double Gold for Connacht Distillery

The Connacht Distillery has been awarded a Double Gold medal for Batch 1 of its Connacht Single Malt Irish Whiskey at this year’s San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

This represents a major recognition from one of the world’s leading industry competitions for Connacht Distillery’s first core Single Malt release.

The San Francisco World Spirits Competition is one of the world’s most prestigious spirits competitions and is considered one of the most important endorsements by the global spirits industry. Connacht’s Single Malt Irish whiskey achieved a Gold medal rating from all members of the judging panel following a blind-tasting by the group of industry experts. Winners of the Double Gold medal are considered among the finest products in the world.

This is the first whiskey to be distilled in County Mayo in over 150 years and was crafted using 100% Irish malt barley aged in ex-Bourbon casks for four years and finished in ex-Oloroso sherry casks; it was then double-distilled from the distillery’s own copper pot stills.

In less than a year since its launch, demand for Connacht’s Single Malt Irish Whiskey has accelerated worldwide, with the Distillery appointing distributors in seven markets across the world. The company’s portfolio can now be found in markets such as France, Poland, Germany and the US.

The Connacht Distillery also recently announced its expansion into the UK, appointing Spirit Cartel as its distributor, responsible for supplying the Connacht Distillery’s whiskey brands to the on- and off-trade there.

Here in Ireland, it’s available through the Connacht Distillery’s own website www.connachtwhiskey.com and through Bevella Drinks.

“For our first Single Malt whiskey to receive this accolade less than a year since its launch is testament to the outstanding work of our team over a number of years,” commented Killian O’Sullivan, The Connacht Distillery’s Commercial Director.
