Cigarette machines banned from UK on-trade

The British government has banned cigarette vending machines from pubs, clubs and restaurants in the UK in order to prevent underage sales there, from the beginning of next month, October.

With fines of up to £2,500 for anyone found with a machine on their premises, it’s estimated that around 16 per cent of regular underage smokers in England and Wales buy their cigarettes from machines.

Staff can still sell tobacco to customers after carrying out age ID.
