Bulmers sales decline 3.4% in H1

Sales of Bulmers fell 3.4 per cent in the six months to 31st August this year, according to C&C’s H1 results published recently.

However sales of the company’s Magners brand grew 1.6 per cent comprising a 0.7 per cent growth in the UK and a 34.4 per cent growth in the ‘Rest of World’ (representing 12 per cent of the Magners business). This offset a poor performance in Northern Ireland where Magners sales declined 20.6 per cent (as cross-border activity declined), producing an overall decline in volumes of Magners and Bulmers together of 0.2 per cent for H1.
Net revenue in the original cider business declined by 5.3 per cent to €144.3 million while Operating profit in the original cider business declined 1.8 per cent to €47.9 million.
