Bar sales up 6.6%

Sales in bars rose 6.2% in volume and 6.6% in value in August compared to a year ago, according to provisional figures from the CSO, but compared to the previous month, July 2015, sales volumes were down 0.2% while values were up 0.6%.

Final sales figures for July indicate that bar sales were up 10% in volume on July 2014 and by 10.2% in value. Campared to the previoius month, June, sales in July were up 3.6% by volume and 3.7% in value.

Provisional estimates for the three-month period June to August indicate a growth in bar sales volumes of 7.4% compared to the same period in 2014 while volumes were also up 1.2% on the March to May quarter.

Bar sales values were up 7.6% on June to August 2014 while they were up 3.0% on the previous quarter in 2015.
