August bar sales volumes up 31.9%
Bar sales volumes last month were also up by 31.9% over the previous month, July, while values were up 23.5%.
Still, this August’s bar sales volumes were down 27.6% on those of August 2019 while sales values were down 26.4%.
Final figures for July indicate that bar sales volumes were up 8.7% on July 2020 while values were up 11.6%. Compared to the previous month, June, July’s bar sales volumes were up 11.7% while values showed growth of 16.1%.
Across the June to August Quarter, bar sales volumes were up 41.5% when compared with the same three-month period in 2020 while values were up 58.7%.
Comparing this with the immediately previous Quarter March to May (when the on-trade remained shuttered), bar sales volumes were up 530.1% while values grew 548.6%.
Retail sales increased generally by 3.5% in August 2021 when compared to July 2021 on a provisional seasonally-adjusted basis.
On an annual basis, retail volumes were 6.0% higher than in August 2020 and retail sales for August 2021 were 14.8% higher when compared to two years earlier (August 2019).
