Rome’s Scholars Lounge wins top IPG award

Scholars Lounge in Rome was crowned Global Pub of Year when 400 Irish publicans from around the world gathered in the Round Room at the Mansion House for the annual Irish Pubs Global Gala Awards.

A lifetime achievement award was also presented to the Founder and Chairman of the McGettigan Group, Jim McGettigan. The McGettigan Group has built up a successful portfolio of Irish pubs across the globe in New York, Dublin, Dubai and Galway.

Over 16,000 public nominations were received for the awards this year stated IPG’s Chief Executive Colm O’Reilly at the awards, outlining some of the activities during the week for the overseas and local Irish publicans attending, “For two days we toured the best that Dublin has to offer in terms of pubs, distilleries and brewers. The Gala Awards in the Round Room was the highlight of the two days.”

Minister Ciarán Cannon, with special responsibility for the Diaspora, was a Guest of Honour at the awards along with Brian Cody, Senator Catherine Noone, Senator Billy Lawless.
