BAR 1661 has been awarded Best Cocktail Experience at the Food & Wine Restaurant of the Year Awards 2023. The venue in Dublin’s north city centre won the title out of a shortlist of 12 bars around Ireland, with second place awarded to Hawksmoor Dublin.

The Food & Wine Restaurant of the Year Awards in association with Rémy Martin took place at The Round Room at The Mansion House, with hundreds of guests recognising the best of Irish food and drink in an event hosted by Food&Wine editor Gillian Nelis.

This Best Cocktail Experience award comes after a spate of recent accolades for the bar including Innovative Bar of the Year and Cocktail Bar of the Year at the 2023 Bar of the Year Awards in October, on the back of winning the top award of Ireland’s Bar of the Year 2022 last year.

The bar also has a regular series of whiskey tasting events, and poitín tastings and spirits showcases highlighting the amazing producers on the island of Ireland.

Dave Mulligan, owner, Bar 1661 said: “BAR 1661 has had an incredible year, from showcasing what we do in cities such as New York and Singapore to hosting multiple guests in our own market. Hopefully, this award proves we are achieving our core goal of lifting Irish cocktail culture to new heights.”
