100 year-old Irish pub collection at Victor Mee Auctions

Victor Mee Auctions will host its ‘best advertising sale to date’ – The McCabe Collection sale on the 5th and 6th of October.

 This unique auction sees an entire publican collection that has come from multiple generations of the one family spanning over 100 years hit the auction block.

All 1,400 lots have been entrusted to Victor Mee Auctions by Des McCabe, nephew of the late Molly McCabe, much-loved matriarch of ‘Molly’s’ pub in Warrenpoint, County Down.

Bidders can expect lots from iconic Irish brands such as Guinness, Old Bushmills, Murphy’s, Jameson, Beamish, Harp Lager, Smithwicks, Cork Dry Gin, Paddy, Tullamore Dew, Powers and Dunvilles to name but a few.

Comprising rare advertising signs, mirrors and collectables originating from Ireland, the UK and the US, The McCabe Collection will invoke interest amongst seasoned and budding collectors globally.

For those hoping to add some character to their home bar or drinks cabinet, the sale will showcase several unique 1960s Babycham glasses and Old Bushmills and Dunville’s drinks trays.

These lots are estimated to sell in the region of €40 to €200.

The team at Victor Mee anticipate significant interest in an extremely rare ‘The Finest Whiskey In The World’ DWD Pure Pot Still 10 Year-Old extra special framed advertising mirror. This lot is expected to generate a lot of conversation online and is estimated to sell at auction from anywhere between €6,000 and €10,000.

 

 

 

 

Lot 992 is an extremely rare 1880s unopened, hand-blown full quart size bottle of Cassidy & Co Monasterevin Whiskey, the second bottle of Monasterevin whiskey Victor Mee has ever seen, with the first bottle selling in 2019 for a record price of €23,000. Although not a collectable of the McCabe family, this lot has been warmly welcomed into the The McCabe Collection sale and is sure to light up the eyes of any whiskey lover or collector.
