Citra Pale Ale: Beoir of Year 2019

Wexford-based YellowBelly Beer’s Citra Pale Ale has been crowned ‘Beer of the Year’ for 2019 by Beoir, Ireland's independent consumer group for craft beer, whose primary goal is to support and raise awareness of Ireland's native independent microbreweries.

This is the competition’s eighth year, with the best beers being voted on by members from Ireland and abroad.

“In just three-and-a-half years, we’ve evolved from a tiny brewery in the basement of a pub to an award-winning brewery with national distribution in Ireland and also distribution across eight export markets in Europe,” said YellowBelly Beer’s Managing Director Nicky Lambert.

The beer itself is YellowBelly’s number one-selling beverage across Ireland and Europe.

Despite the name, there are no citrus additions to the beer. All the orange and grapefruit flavour is derived from use of the Citra hop.
