Tia Maria – new look, same recipe
A favourite for coffee cocktail lovers the world over, the brand said the dark liqueur will maintain its long-standing recipe.
Tia Maria is made with Madagascar vanilla, Jamaican rum, and 100% Arabica coffee, which the brand claims provides “the distinctive roasted, full-bodied and rich taste”.
The recipe dates back to the mid-17th Century, when a Spanish aristocrat fled Jamaica amid a colonial war.
Her maid, Tia Maria, salvaged one family treasure – a jewellery box that contained the recipe for the drink.
The recipe was rediscovered in the 1940s by Dr Kenneth Leigh Evans, who began to produce and market it.
