SuperValu & Dunnes alcohol winners

SuperValu and Dunnes Stores continued to gain ground in take-home sales of beer and wine in the 52 weeks to 27th March according to the latest Kantar Worldpanel figures for the year ending 26th March 2017.

SuperValu increased its Year-on-Year beer and wine sales share to 23.8% from 23.0% in the 12-month period and Dunnes grew its share of this market to 17.7% from 15.9%.

The ‘Others’ segment also grew share from 9.2% to 10.3% in the 52 weeks.

Meanwhile market-leader Tesco continued to slip from a 27.2% share to 26.3% accompanied by Aldi losing 0.9 percentage points to 11.2% from 12.1% and Lidl dropping share to 10.7% from 12.6%.

Kantar Worldpanel does not track sales of spirits from these outlets.
