Sign of the times

Those genuine antique signs in pubs are becoming more valuable to the point where Gardaí in North Tipperary have warned businesses with vintage signs to be wary following thefts from two pubs in the early hours, reported the Tipperary Star recently.

According to the paper two old signs, one for a tobacco product and the other for cocoa, valued at €1,000, were stolen from Ryan’s Pub in Killoscully.

But thieves also stole an old advertising sign for tobacco worth €2,000 on the same night when they struck at the Fairways Pub and Restaurant in Kilruane. The premises had been closed at the time.
