Bi-monthly wine sales: the only winner

The latest grocery market figures for alcohol sales during the 12 weeks ending 3rd December 2017 in Ireland from Kantar Worldpanel reveal that wine sales grew 8%, giving wine retailers an extra holiday boost worth €9 million as sales rose from €105.99 million to €114.85 million. 

Kantar Worldpanel’s figures indicate that the total value of grocery alcohol sales in this 12-week period rose 2.7% to €194.35 million from the same period in 2016 when alcohol sales were responsible for €189.17 million.

Within this, value sales of Beer & Lager declined 5.1% during the period, going from €70.44 million in the 2016 period to €66.82 million.

Value sales of Cider flatlined, dropping slightly from €12.74 million to €12.68 million.
