Revenue seize alcohol at Rosslare Europort and in Roscommon

As a result of routine operations Revenue officers seized almost 10,000 litres of vodka and whiskey at Rosslare Europort recently.
Separately, the previous day, as part of an intelligence-led operation, Revenue officers seized almost 400 litres of spirits, beer and wine when a premises was searched under warrant in Roscommon.

Separately, the previous day, as part of an intelligence-led operation, Revenue officers seized almost 400 litres of spirits, beer and wine when a premises was searched under warrant in Roscommon.

The smuggled alcohol had an estimated retail value of over €300,000, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €230,000.

The alcohol was discovered in an unaccompanied trailer that had arrived on a Ferry from Cherbourg, France.

Separately, the previous day, as part of an intelligence-led operation, Revenue officers seized almost 400 litres of spirits, beer and wine when a premises was searched under warrant in Roscommon.

The alcohol, with an estimated retail value of over €2,400, represents a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €1,420.

A man and a woman, both in their 30’s, were questioned.

Investigations into these seizures are ongoing.
