Over €660,000 worth of contraband seized by Revenue
Dublin, the Midlands and Rosslare Europort recently saw contraband worth an estimated value of €660,000 seized.
The detections were made as a result of risk profiling and intelligence-led operations, and included the following:
- 20.6kg of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of over €413,000,
- almost 60kg of edibles, with an estimated value of €55,000,
- various other illicit drugs, with an estimated value of €20,300,
- cigarettes and tobacco products with an estimated value of €96,850, and
- 244 counterfeit goods of assorted brands, with an estimated value of over €67,500.
Included in the tobacco products is 1,363kg of raw tobacco, with an estimated value of over €91,000, which was seized in Dublin Port.

Revenue continue to prompt businesses or members of the public to reach out regarding any important information regarding the smuggling of contraband
The herbal cannabis and illicit drugs were discovered, with the assistance of detector dogs Sam, Ciara and Enzo, whilst Revenue officers were searching parcels at premises in Dublin and the Midlands.
The parcels originated from Canada, the USA, Spain, Germany, Poland, Slovenia, Czech Republic, India, the UK, Netherlands and France, and were destined for addresses nationwide.
The counterfeit goods were seized as they were confirmed by the Rights Holder to have infringed on Intellectual Property Rights.
In addition to the above, almost 640 litres of alcohol with a retail value of over €8,000, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €4,750, was seized in various operations. 36 weapons were also seized in the Midlands.
