Off-trade beer prices up 13.2%.

Off-trade alcohol prices rose by 7.0% in the year to March according to the Central Statistics Office's latest Consumer Price Index for the month.

But they were down 0.7% compared to those in the preceding month, February.

This March’s off-trade spirits prices were up 8.9% on March last year while wine prices were up 2.9% and beer prices rose 13.2%.

Spirits prices in the off-trade were down 1.9% on February, with wine prices down 0.2% and beer prices down 0.3%.

In the on-trade, prices in licensed premises in March were up 3.6% over those for March 2021, with spirits prices up 4.6%, wine up 3.3%, beer up 3.6% and soft drinks/mixers up 3.3%.

Prices in licensed premises in March were up 2.4% over those of February. This comprised a 2.4% rise in spirits prices, a 2.1% rise in wine prices, a 2.6% rise in beer prices and a 2.0% rise in soft drinks/mixer prices.

Prices generally rose by 6.7% in the year to March 2022.
