DÍON shortlisted for Global Rooftop Award
DÍON, Dublin’s rooftop venue located at One Central Plaza, has been shortlisted in the Global Rooftop category of the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards 2026.

DÍON is situated atop the former Central Bank of Ireland on Dublin’s Dame Street
Recognised as the world’s leading international design competition for food and beverage spaces, the awards – now in their 18th year – celebrate the most creative spaces globally and the individuals and organisations behind them, encompassing everything from ultra-luxe fine-dining destinations to concept-led fast-casual hangouts.
DÍON is one of eight rooftop venues worldwide to make this year’s list, with fellow shortlistees including SUSHISAMBA in Los Angeles and Cé La Vi at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.
To meet the criteria for this category, a venue must be located at the rooftop level of a building, designed to offer panoramic views, with open-air ambience, curated for both day-to-night transitions, blending dining, lounging and entertainment.
DÍON is situated atop the former Central Bank of Ireland on Dublin’s Dame Street.
The building was originally designed by architect Sam Stephenson and completed in 1978, and is one of only around 20 buildings in the world constructed using a suspended structure, with floors hung from a central core rather than built up from ground level.
DÍON’s interior was designed by New York studio ICRAVE, a Journey Studio in partnership with Dublin architects Henry J Lyons.
“The vision for DÍON was to create a place that felt distinctly Dublin, while standing comfortably alongside the great hospitality spaces of other cities,” says general manager of DÍON, Jeremy Phillips.
“From the building we call home to the welcome we give, there is something unmistakably Irish at the heart of DÍON.
“To see our wonderful venue, and Irish hospitality itself, recognised on a global stage is a proud moment for everyone involved.”
Gregory Merkel. principal and director. ICrave, a Journey Studio. Says, “DÍON is truly a unique project. The site, building, and constraints made it really challenging, but we relish challenges.
“By digging into the building’s quirky history and the essence of being Irish, we were able to create a space like nothing else in Ireland.
“We are extremely proud of that.”
Winners of this year’s Restaurant & Bar Design Awards will be announced the week of 5 October 2026. www.diondublin.ie @dion.restaurant.dublin
