Off-trade alcohol prices up 9%

The price of off-trade alcoholic beverages rose 9% in the year to July according to figures from the Central Statistics Office.

The price of off-trade alcoholic beverages rose 9% in the year to July.

 

This comprised an 11.5% rise in spirits prices, a 5.9% rise in wine prices and a 13% rise in beer prices.

Compared to June, July’s alcohol off-trade beverage prices were up by 0.1%, with spirits prices up 1.3%, wine prices down 0.7% and beer prices up 0.6%.

In licensed premises, prices rose by 5% over the year to July comprising a 5% rise in spirits prices, a 5.3% rise in wine prices, a 4.7% rise in beer prices and a 6.2% rise in soft drinks & mineral water prices.

July’s licensed premises prices overall were up by just 0.2% on June, with spirits prices similarly up by 0.2%, wine prices remaining level, beer prices up by 0.3% and soft drinks and mineral water up by 0.7%.
