Last call for World Class bartenders

The closing date for Diageo Reserve’s World Class Bartender of the Year competition is closing in – 30th March - so any remaining aspiring World Class bartenders who've not sent in their entries should get mixing up an application.

The World Class Bartender of the Year competition now runs in over 60 countries and since its launch in 2009 it has supported, educated and inspired over 250,000 bartenders through its training and advocacy programme.

The Competition brings together the best bartending talent from around the globe to decide who’ll be crowned the world’s best bartender.

The 2018 Competition asks bartenders to submit one cocktail with the theme centred on creativity and which pushes the boundaries. There are only two rules:

1) At least 30ml of a World Class brand spirit must be used

2) Bartenders must incorporate elements from both World Class studio training modules:

  • Heat of the Moment
  • The Resourceful Bartender.

The resulting drink creation must therefore use a culinary technique and involve an element of sustainability or resourcefulness.

In-bar judging of the top 12 entries will take place throughout April when six bartenders will be selected to go through to the World Class semi-finals in Dublin on 7th of May 2018 with the Irish Final taking place in Dublin on 19th of June. The Winner will then travel to the Global Final in Berlin in September.

To enter, bartenders are invited to log onto www.theworldclassclub.com to review full challenge details and submit their entry.
